Pulmonology Subspecialist Consultation

A consultation with a pulmonology subspecialist is recommended when a respiratory tract disease is suspected, when a patient does not respond to standard therapy, or when the diagnosis is unclear, complex, or rare. It is also essential for advanced diagnostic procedures (such as bronchoscopy with biopsy), specialized treatments, and long-term management of complex chronic pulmonary conditions—or when first-line treatment by a primary physician does not yield the expected results.

Follow-Up Consultation with a Pulmonology Subspecialist

A follow-up visit aims to monitor the patient’s condition, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and adjust therapy as needed. For chronic and complex lung diseases, regular specialist follow-up is a crucial component of the long-term management plan.

Pulmonary Function Testing – Basic Spirometry

Basic spirometry is a simple, fast, and painless diagnostic test that measures lung volume and airflow through the respiratory tract. It is the foundational test for assessing pulmonary function and is indispensable in diagnosing and monitoring conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and pulmonary fibrosis.

Pulmonary Function Testing – Advanced Spirometry

Full (advanced) spirometry is a more comprehensive method that measures lung volumes not captured by basic spirometry—specifically residual volume (RV, the air remaining in the lungs after maximal exhalation) and total lung capacity (TLC)—and assesses bronchial hyperreactivity. It is commonly used in diagnosing asthma and in preoperative evaluation for surgeries involving the lungs, upper abdomen, or heart.

Antibiotic Infusion for Respiratory Diseases Treatment

Antibiotic infusion for pneumonia is a medical procedure in which antibiotics are delivered directly into the patient’s bloodstream via an intravenous (IV) line. This method is highly effective and often necessary for treating severe bacterial pneumonia, enabling rapid and potent drug action.
